Our history
Every story begins with a name. Over the years, the Neuhauser, a house with a long tradition, has become the Glockenstuhl gourmet hotel. What remains are its roots, its connection to the region and its passion for genuine hospitality.
With a lot of passion, the courage to develop further and respect for what has grown over time, the hotel has gradually become what it is today. The Glockenstuhl stands for enjoyment, quality and personal proximity – supported by people who love their work and share their stories with our guests.
How Neuhauser became the Glockenstuhl gourmet hotel

Til 1963
The Neuhauser farm was one of the first farms in Gerlos and was an integral part of village life for many decades. Characterised by hard work, a close connection to nature and a strong sense of community, the farm existed until 1963. It was a source of livelihood, a meeting place and a home – deeply rooted in the history of the region.
In 1963, a new chapter began. Elisabeth and Erich Eberl took over the Neuhauser and laid the foundation for a new purpose for the house. With a great deal of dedication, vision and a desire to welcome guests, the former farm was transformed into the Glockenstuhl inn. This marked the beginning of the farm's development into a place of hospitality, from which the Glockenstuhl gourmet hotel of today was able to grow over generations.
1963 to 1971
The opening of the Glockenstuhl inn in 1963 marked the beginning of a new era. The à la carte business developed rapidly and became increasingly important. With a lot of hard work, long working days and a great passion for cooking, up to 300 meals were served every day – a clear sign of how well the Glockenstuhl was already accepted at that time.
The inn was not only a culinary meeting place, but also a place for socialising. A highlight of these years was the annual Glockenstuhl ball. Once a year, guests and friends of the inn came together to dance, celebrate and socialise.

1971 to 1994
In 1971, a significant step in the development of the Glockenstuhl followed: the building was extended with a large addition, increasing the number of rooms to 27. The inn thus continued to grow into a hotel without losing its roots. The business developed steadily and positively, with the à la carte restaurant remaining an important and strong part of the establishment.
Another milestone was reached in 1994. With the construction of the wellness area, including a swimming pool and saunas, the course was set for a new direction. The Glockenstuhl increasingly opened itself up to a more exclusive clientele and complemented its culinary offerings with space for relaxation and unwinding. This investment marked the beginning of a new chapter and laid the foundation for today's gourmet hotel.
since 1994
Since 1994, the Glockenstuhl has been gradually developed and modernised with great care. In the following years, the focus was on continuous renovation of the rooms and bathrooms, always with the aim of increasing comfort and creating contemporary quality.
At the same time, a conscious reorientation of the gastronomic offerings took place. The à la carte business was largely scaled back in order to focus more on the hotel guests and further enhance the culinary quality. This decision made it possible to tailor the dining experience and service even more individually and to a higher standard.
Another important step followed in 2022 with the comprehensive modernisation of the restaurant area. In 2025, this path was consistently continued: with the opening of the additional Gerloser Stubn restaurant, the Glockenstuhl set another milestone in terms of quality, enjoyment and contemporary hospitality.
